Do you mean in the nice presentation box that pops up when you click on a placemark?

If you want to change the color of the balloon, add this after the <icon id="whatever">

Just change the color code.

here (http://www.googleearthhacks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6575) is a nice example of colored balloons and pictures.

I use this for pictures on the web:

<img src="PICTURE ULR HERE" width="XXX" height="XXX" border="0"><br>

It adjusts the picture's height and width and adds a link to the original picture as well using the picture text.

Pretty sure cathar1234 that you have to have the picture on the internet. The picture won't be part of the kmz file, it will be called for display in GE by the kmz file.

Hopefully someone wiser than myself will chime in.

It's possible to link to a local file on your computer, but you cannot share this placemark. The thing is that you have to remember that you're not giving a file path, but it's a URL path. That will not simply be C:\pictures\yay.jpg or whatever yours might be. Your URL can look like this:

<img width=600 src="file:///C:/Pics/Art/Paintings/JohnSingerSargent/Mrs_Fiske_Warren_and_Her_Daughter.jpg">

It will continue to pull up that image from the placemark you've made in your MyPlaces listing. If you save this to a separate KMZ outside of your MyPlaces and then try to open that KMZ, you'll find that the image isn't in the placemark anymore. If you simply want to show it to people on that computer (as one might in a classroom) then you're fine. If you want to share it, you'll have to put it on a picture sharing website and link to that.

The exception to this rule is custom icons. Those get bundled into your KMZ archive and the references in your placemarks are automatically updated to use that file.
