Yes they are mountains (the highest Greenland mountain, Gunnbjoerns Fjeld (3,693 meters) is located about 100 km left of your hack, cliffs and your hack is a glacier.

The answer is yes to both. The glaciers are frozen rivers that look like ribbons coming in from the ocean.
The glaciers of Greenland are melting at an astonishing rate and will soon be gone completely.

That's not quite true about the glaciers. They are melting, yes but the ice is so thick, up to 3000 meters, it will take some hundred years. So if the USA doesn't do something, they won't agree the Kyoto Treaty to reduce the CO2 emmision, the oceans will rise and there won't be a New York or Washington DC. Or any other city at sea level.

You are correct. I did not give a time frame because I could take more than a hundred years. But in the blink of an eye in universal time.

You sound a little dramatic, predicting the demise of the Eastern Seaboard :whoa:
Maybe we ahould take it one step at a time, we won't be around then to care anyways ;)
