Scientists warn that a future eruption of the Cumbre Vija on this island in the Canary Islands could trigger a massive landslide into the Atlantic Ocean.

This could result in a wave over 90 meters high which would strike the east coast of the USA, as well as western Europe. Yikes! Glad I live in Chicago ;-)

something on this wave would be special:

i wouldn't break at the east coast of the united states. it would cover the coast areas and would break on the land....after 100 or 200 meters an would destroy more than a normal tsunami. it could destroy about 20 kilometres (14 miles) of the east coast (new york, boston)

very terrible, if you imagine that...
