View Full Version : Tunnel under a river

The Thames Woolwich Tunnel is about 0.30 miles long and has been inaugurated in 1912. It allows people to walk under the Thames river in London, from one side to the other side. Few years ago I was in London and after visiting the Greenwich Meridian 0, I wanted to cross the Thames under it...
I hope I got the right placemarks...


Does anyone know more sites like this one?

There are plenty, I am not thinking well today because of a Halo party I was at, but I will have some hopefully tomorrow ;)

Go west of your tunnel, and find the "Cutty Sark" at Greenwich. See the "dome" beside it? That's the southern entrance to the "Greenwich Foot Tunnel". Look across the water, and slightly to the right, and you see a similar one, the North entrance. Trust me, the stairs are a biatch

I'm sure I posted the locations before, so I will again anyway, and here's an article for you...

But that seems to be the same tunnel I have marked in the file I've attached... Maybe they are the same thing.

Two different tunnels, you marked the one that was built 10 years after the one I marked. They were of the same design, etc, but in two different places.

The Greenwich one is maybe the tunnel you walked through, as it is virtually on the Greenwich meridian. Oh, and here's the one you marked

heres a motorway under a canal.
not as odd as it might seem.
but still very odd. i first walked past this when i was about 15. i couldnt get my head round it for ages
