hi res projects?

Hey all. I did some searching on this with google, and on this forum, with no luck. I apologize if this has been explained before.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any projects that offer hi-res packs for GE offline use? Like something where you can look up the area you want by state, or country, and download a KMZ pack or something for hi-res of that entire area.

A project like this would be greatly useful, and because of the way GE is set up prob wouldn't require much work on the hosts part other than the server space and maintenance, because users could put the packs together themselves and then upload.

Well I suppose that someone(I might even do it) could collect images from GE when it's online, save them as a file then you could open it when your offline.

I'll give it a try if you would like.
