Hey,
I'm using Google Earth 4.0.1565 (BETA). Since i added a lot of placemarks in My Places, Google Earth is very slow. It streams slow, it works slow. Everything is slow. Is it possible that this is due the placemarks? I tried removing, but it didn't had the effect i wanted.
Someone else with the same problem? I know i'm useing a beta, and that it is common for betas to have bugs, so if in nobody has a solution, i will reinstall version 3.
Thx in advance,
Spikey

Yeah, my G4-beta is really slow as well, slow response time and the movement in the viewing window is jerky. Strange thing is that it wasn't slow at all when I had just downloaded and installed it, and it's certainly a lot slower than GE3.
It doesn't matter if I turn off all other programs and file-sharing programs. Having a lot or few placemarks doesn't have an influence either, nor turning on or off any additional layers, like the 3d-warehouse network link.
And, if we're on the subject of complaining about beta-versions...
- I want to be able to permanently turn off the search tab!
- Why the hell is the tilt-control on a horizontal slide? Feels totally unnatural..
- Is there a rotation button? (not the rotation-ring that you can drag around, just one button that makes the worldview go round )

True is this that the more placemarks, the slower GE will be, however, turning off other programs will help GE open faster. I had the same exact problem on both GE3 and Beta4, so do not re-install GE3 if you haven't yet. Eliminate some placemarks, or I find that the speed increases slightly when the placemarks are turned off. Turning off additional layers will most definetly speed up the streaming process. ;)

It does open slower then GE3 but not much.
However; I found more programs you open, slower it gets.
I don't have much on "My Places", cause I don't see the point.
If you have the .kmz files in a folder, just double click the bugger.
I agree with Brad, more layers + placemarks + back ground programs= sssloooowww GEβ.
