hi

i had been able to record videos using the previous version of GE and Fraps, but, with the new GE Beta, Fraps is unable to even show the framerate in the GE window

Fraps is also unable to record the GE 4 screen video as before :-(

why ? has someone else experienced the same problem ?

thank you

well, now the framerate already shows in the GE 4 window, but when i try to record, as soon as the trip starts, GE 4 crashes :-(

why ? has someone experienced the same problem ? is there some way to get around this GE crash ?

i mean, short of purchasing the GE movie maker module :-)

i have fell back to recording with CamStudio

are there other ways ? thank you

hi

the solution was really simple :-)

just switch to DirectX (I was using OpenGL)

using DirectX, Fraps can record from GE4 :-)

working signature ? :-)

anyway, does someone here use to record GPS tracks over GE4 videos ?

if yes, which tools do you use to make this videos ?

(i mean, short of purchasing the movie maker module)

i am currently using Fraps, but the framerate has fallen in comparison with GE3 :-(

i have had to resort to downgrading the resolution, from 800x600 to 640x480

with GE3, i had been able to record at a framerate of 30 fps at 800x600, but now with GE4, i am getting only 20 fps at 640x480, using the same machine :-(

thanks

Hi:

I have made a video of a GPS track (of a bike ride, using a Garmin 60 CSx receiver) over the new version of Google Earth (4 beta). You can watch this video at:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8831784718229779711&hl=en

This video shows the new capabilities of GE4, some of them:

* camera can go as low as 150 m over the earth level
* tilt angle now can be as high as 80 degrees
* GE4 no longer stucks when climbing a mountain with camera at low altitude :-)

All this changes make Google Earth videos following GPS tracks more realistic :-)

I have set the camera speed at 250 m/s, the speed of a comercial jet airplane (747), so you can watch the ride as flying in an airplane, just 150 m over earth level :-)

Photos of this bike ride can be seen at:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/albatros/sets/72157594186361931/

In the future, I will use more resolution in the GPS track, i.e. more points along the path. With the new detail, i think i need more sample points.

Greetings
