My GE is not displaying altitude

My Google Earth is not displaying the altitude where the cursor is. Its only showing the eye altitude, but I want to see the altitude of the place I point the cursor. I'm using Google Earth version 3.0.0762. The navigation pannel is only showing latitude and longitude,streaming bar and eye alt. Please help me and tell how I can view the altitude. Thanks, sorry for bad english

Using V4 here, the altitude displays only below an eye alt of 900 miles.
Think that was the same in V3.

you have to check the "terrain" layer.
