I've been checking through Berlin, and I realized we need to move a LOT of files to the outdated section. But right now I'm busy finding my own files. =)

The resolution is great - but unfortunately the data was captured during last winter (trees mostly leafless) on a day and at a time when the sun was very low in the sky. As a result, every building casts a shadow about three times as long as itself. Result - lots of features are completely obscured and I think the overall image quality is, in most urban areas, worse than before.

What a pity.

There are also updates in New Zealand. Parts of the majestic fjordland and scattered patches across the South Island are now in high resolution (including the famous Routeburn Track, but not the Milford Sound or Track).

My home's car park was hidden by many trees. Now Google earth was updated, the leaves have disappeared enabling me to see my car. D'oh it aint there!

Anyhow, i went to see my work 10 miles away and found cars parked outside the building. i dont know if there is my car because the shadow in the way.

I found this while exploring. Someone enjoying washing the car at this time of year. (attached)

I've been away from the forum a year, and I guess a few things have changed. Shouldn't the first thread have a file I can download?

I've been to the main site, and the only update I can find is v. 4. Since v3 lready runs so slowly, in my machine I'm not switching to 4. Do the updates work with 3, and if so, where are they?

Gandolf
10-12-2006, 02:05 AM
They should work in GE#3. They load automatically when you start GE.

Haven't used the program in a year, either. Are the automatic updates why my program just filled with little white boxes with red arrows that I don't want? I like to keep control over what appears, and they're blocking access to my own placemarks. How do I get rid of them?

Sofia is, Ruse, Gigen and the area between Ravnets and Burgas.
The Alexander Newski Cathedral, Sweta Georgi are coverred behind a cloud. You can see the ancient roman village at Gigen now, I'm making a file for that. in Ruse my parents lives and their house was covered behind a cloud. Finally Ravnets is now winterphoto before it was summer and smaller area to see.

Dublin,Ireland is now in Hi-res.
Y'mean it wasn't already?

I only put placemarks on hi-res locations, and I've had Croke Park placemarked for months.

Just wonderin'.

Why not.

There was a general update by google.

This morning, a terrain update occurred that corrects many of the holes in the SRTM data. This greatly improves the appearance of Mt. Everest, Matterhorn, and others in South America, Asia, and Europe.

Also included are imagery updates:
* 12 high-resolution cities in Germany (Bayreuth, Bochum, Castrop-Rauxel, Fulda, Hof, Mannheim, Marburg, Potsdam, Schweinfurt, Siegen, Unna Froendenberg, Wuerzburg)
* 6 high-resolution regions in the UK (Bridgend, Cleveland, Dundee, Plymouth, Poole, Rochford)
* 31 city updates from Digital Globe
* entire island of Oahu
* Imagery from individual cities/counties: Grants Pass, OR; City of Kent, WA; Salem, OR; Douglas County, WA; Hartford County, MD; Jackson County, OR; Summit County, OR;
* Expanded/updated coverage for the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Indiana, and Florida
* Darfur
* 66 Islands
* improved SF/Bay area water

Thanks to Google Earth Community for the info.

wow didn't even realise it was updated until I went to find my cousin's house LOL it actually has grass now and noticed the retaining wall at the front has been knocked down and changed around as well. About time Perth got an update. Oh my god I can see grass outside my house too! LOL I only laid down the lawn about 2004/2005. Its funny how those little updates made me realize that the google earth imagery had been updated.
