This is AMAZING. Along this Waterline, i found more than 25 Wrecks. Most of them are real huge ones (150 Meters and more). I never see a Place like this before. Go, Skipper, go! I love this Place :)

If you found some Wrecks, please post them here too.

Perhaps ships from the first Gulf War? I'm not sure.

very cool placements, I guess they just leave their sunken ships right where they sunk, cause it is a lot cheaper that way... ;-) and may be its a problem because the river is the border between Iraq and Iran.

I just read an artikel about the shipwrecks in the rivers Euphrat and Tigris. they say the wrecks are from the first golf war (1980 to 1988) between Iraq and Iran.

maybe because its an english forum?

anyway I'd say the percentage of people who speak english and read german would be miniscule compared to those who speak german but can read english...

I Read on a website dedicated to the american star, that the stain in the water behind the visible shipwreck is the remains of the stern section that collapsed, and sunk. A portion of the stern sticks out of the water only at the lowest tides, but is visible from the air in the clear water.

More dead Ships!

South of the 5th one is another.

Upload seems to be down, I get a fatal error.

Coords: 34 02'13.30 S, 18 18'31.30 E

I remembered I saw a shipwreck along the coast here when I had a helicopter sightseeing in Cape Town in 2003. This must be it. :)

Yes of cause. And I couldn't see it in the files. I answered after I woke up and hadn't my tea.
