What the hell happened here

The 1st location is in a strip which appears to be in False Color Composite ( FCC ) where the chlorophyl appears reddish .. the red spread is a green cover.

Even water also is very blue which is as it appears in FCC.

In fact all the three adjacent strips look to be not in Natural Color.

Remote sensing images can be used for two purposes :


1. To see the globe as we view it - Natural color
2. Researchers use it for different usages: Soil study,Water resources, etc. - where they use FCC because the features which they are interested in, come out with a greater contrast with respect to surroundings. That is the main reason: CONTRAST.

I don't think alfsevic is asking about the colors, but about the specific sites at the place marks. The nearest town/city appears to be Kulusutai, just to the northeast. There are also many more sites like the ones marked. A google search on the city name doesn't bring up much.

The images aren't quite good enough quality to really tell what's going on there, but a few guesses, missile sites, or some type of rocket launch sites (compare them to the ones at Cape Canaveral - see attached). They could also be weapons test sites of any kind including nuclear. Industrial / military site of any kind.

I agree with D_B, they could have been used as bomb testing facilities, or even to train soldiers in Urban warfare...

I had seen only the first placemark and not seen larger outlook earlier.

After seeing this now I find it real interesting... should do more observations.

Farm yards. If you look around at the different ones you can identify farm machinery in some of them. What you are looking at are probably the livestock pens and the mess associated with the animals. (manure)

From your first placement go north towards the lake and you can see one of the sites with the machinery. You can id harvesting and tillage equipment. I should know because the company I work for sells equipment in the region.
