Near Cape Spencer, Inneston, established in 1900, was a self contained little settlement which achieved prominence when the Yorke Peninsula Plaster Company began operations. Inneston received its name from William Innes, who was an instigator in beginning gypsum mining in this area. In 1913 a factory was established at Marion Lake for manufacturing plaster of paris.
The depression and World War II eventually forced the closing of the town's operations. Ruins of the buildings serve as evidence of its former importance.
You can walk through the remains of buildings such as: the bakery, school, general store etc. From memory I think there is a big boiler room and stables too.
