There was a small 'stealth' update around Wednesday. I'm sure it'll leak out onto blogs if it hasn't already.

What I have found updated includes:
1) Devonport UK is now excellent aerial imagery (see my download about it)
2) Oahu (Hawaiian Island) is now 100% aerial imagery
3) Egyptian coastline around Alexandria
4) Las Palmas (again!)
5) Mumbai, just the city. It was reverted to a much crisper version of the OLD data
6) Halifax, Canada
7) The water in San Francisco Bay. (don't ask me why they did that)
8) Rapa Nu (Easter Island) is nearly entirely imaged

And it goes on from there. I've found a few places in Turkey which were also updated. The update is very spotty, but it's worth looking around for more.

Apologies if this isn't the right forum, but as people were complaining about someone doing this in the thread in the GEH.com forum for a previous update it seemed to be a bad idea to try and put this there.

Thanks for sharing. The post location is fine. By the way, how do you figure out if an area is "updated?" Do you like remember what an area looks like then if its different its updated, or do you check the DG coverage layers or what?

I do generally spot updates just by remembering what it used to look like. Most of the times I catch it are times when they update a Navy base I've placemarked. :) I wouldn't have caught Halifax if I'd not seen that the ships didn't match the placemarks at all.

I'm certain there are lots of other small updates I haven't spotted simply because I don't know that area. :) I have to edit the original post to include part of Boston now too, as it was pointed out a large military lift ship is no longer in a dry dock.

Got this from Google Earth Community From yesterday (23rd)

This morning, a terrain update occurred that corrects many of the holes in the SRTM data. This greatly improves the appearance of Mt. Everest, Matterhorn, and others in South America, Asia, and Europe.

Also included are imagery updates:
* 12 high-resolution cities in Germany (Bayreuth, Bochum, Castrop-Rauxel, Fulda, Hof, Mannheim, Marburg, Potsdam, Schweinfurt, Siegen, Unna Froendenberg, Wuerzburg)
* 6 high-resolution regions in the UK (Bridgend, Cleveland, Dundee, Plymouth, Poole, Rochford)
* 31 city updates from Digital Globe
* entire island of Oahu
* Imagery from individual cities/counties: Grants Pass, OR; City of Kent, WA; Salem, OR; Douglas County, WA; Hartford County, MD; Jackson County, OR; Summit County, OH;
* Expanded/updated coverage for the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Indiana, and Florida
* Darfur
* 66 Islands
* improved SF/Bay area water

oh whoops. Yet again I looked at the wrong dates in the posts and thought that was an old update.

On another note, I'm FLOORED that they think that the water in SF is improved!

Wow...some more *useless* High-Def Mapping...
When will Google learn?

Which one is useless? And what wouldn't be useless? :cool:

Well, the useless update in MY opinion is the awful update they did in removing the high resolution water in SF and replacing it with something only marginally better than the 15m Landsat imagery. I'd not call that 'High-Def' though, so I can't speak for what Ravenfeather was mentioning. :)
