View Full Version : Burried gas pipline.

I believe this is the track of a gas pipeline which links St Fergus (north) gas terminal and Grangemouth refinery near Falkirk (south).

You can clearly follow the scar where it is burried for a long way to the north east from the marker and also to the south as well.

I remember seeing this being built and you could see it stretching off for miles each way before they burried the whole thing.

The disturbed areas show up really clearly as the grass etc isn't the same colour as that surrounding the pipe.

I tried to look for it, but Falkirk is all fuzzy...

Yes we can clearly see the scar of it in spite of cultivations done later. Very minute observation by you, Lord.

By the way when was it built? 2/3 yrs? or earlier than that?

There are several pipelines i think, at least two that i'm aware of. I remember seeing one being built about 2 years ago, but that was further south. This might be a northern stretch of the same pipeline, so i'm guessing it's probably no more than 4-5 years old maximium. Older piplines may exist as well, though i don't know the routes.
