I wonder that no course from the PGA and Doral is in the list. They have beutiful courses.

What about Golf Courses in UK? :slant:

When I get to "100 best courses in the World", there will be a LOT of U.K. courses. Might need your help trying to find some of them!

I think you can make us happy, when you create a file with the 100 world best golf courses.

I'm starting out with a list of the top 50 from the folks at St Andrews (if we can't trust them, who can we trust...besides they are modest enough to rate themselves as 5th). I'll attack the 100 list then.

Know right now I'll need help finding Hirono course in Shijimi, Hyogo, Japan

Going to work on it now. Lots of UK and Ireland and some great Australian courses.

Rating courses is always a task someone will find a problem with. For instance, I think that (on Long Island) Maidstone in East Hampton is a tougher course than Shinnecock. Not withstanding, my personal opinion is that U.S. Open should rotate just between Shinnecock, Pebble Beach and Pinehurst #2. Can't stand a US Open with anybody under par)

OK we have added the Best 50 Golf Courses in the World.

This survey, from the folks at St Andrews,is compiled annually for Golf Magazine by an international panel of 100 golfers, journalists, architects and industry figures. New courses occasionally break into the 50 but in this list 44 of the golf courses were built before 1940. The criteria for judgement covers strategic integrity, test of golf skills, rhythm of design, location, ambience, conditioning, tradition and visual appeal. As technology has advanced, many people are worried about great courses becoming obselete, but a combination of lengthening (which keeps hazards in play) and more stringent set-up (pins, fairways, landing areas etc) is enough to save many of the older layouts.
