    Default Strange white Island discussion

This is a discussion thread for the following file:

    Strange white Island

Lowendal Island; appears oddly white, though its location and the fact that none is visible on building tops suggests that snow is unlikely. Seems more like an intense glare or flash. Nuclear testing has gone on in regions of Australia for quite a while. I don't know.....it just seems odd.

Yes very odd, snow on the western cost of Australia at sea level?. Definately not, you'll be lucky to even get rain in this location. The location is basically a sandy island, light colour (Not totally white) but its certainly a result of environmental conditions (Strong Sun) and the timing of the satellite photo. Definately nothing to do with Flashes or Nuclear tests....

    Default overexposed?

Notice the nice depth detail of the island's underwater slopes. Perhaps the white glare of the island is a side effect of an intentional overexposure, washing out the land to highlight the underwater features.
