    Default .kmz file format

Is there any technical literature on the format of .kmz files?

Is there a way ( say a utility software ) to decode at least the Lat/Long for a place embedded in .kmz files?

This is because on several occasions I am behind a firewall and hence can't access GE but can browse through Wikimapia or Googlemaps. So if I know the lat/long then I can go to that place without .kmz format.

On searching a bit on GEH I found a discussion thread on .kml files which said that .kmz is a zip of .kml file.

So I used winRAR and found that .kml is a text file giving all the required details.

Thanks guys who contributed to that thread on .kml files; it was very useful.

Change KMZ to ZIP, open with zip. Extract the KML file inside the zip, and open the KML file with any text editor.
