Default New Swedish 3D Google maps equivalent.

    Hey guys,

Been reading the boards for some time now but never joined the discussion. I did want to share this with you guys though:

It's a post about a relatively new Swedish online map viewer that has some crazy 3D options: http://www.hitta.se/3d/3d_map.aspx

Nice to see how a different technology can provide such impressive results.

That's immensely interesting. The 3D Models look like they were automatically generated though. But that itself is brilliant technology.

They are indeed automatically generated, using special aircraft and stereovision technology (orthrectification en triangulation etc..).

Now all objects: trees, cars, monuments are 3d, but some angles may look wrong on buildings due to this technique.

Their version of Street View, gatubild, absolutely blows away Google's SV.
