Default Link to a Layer from a Placemark Balloon?

I have a KMZ file that has two folders, one contains all my locations
I want to display and the other is an empty folder that is serving as
a 'Help' document for the end user. I have written up a bunch of text
in the description property of the folder so when a user clicks on the
folder titled 'Help Document' it opens like a placemark balloon
showing the text information I want the user to be informed about.

I would like to be able to insert a hyperlink into each locations
placemark balloon that will link to the 'Help Document' folder and
    open it. Is this possible?

    thanks

Yes and no. I don't think it's possible to do it the way you're describing. But what you should be able to do is put the text that's in your help document into a separate HTML file. Then display the contents of the HTML file directly into the balloons. Its been a while since I tried this, but if remember correctly, you would do this using iframe tags.

    Matt,

thanks for the input. I do not want the 'Help' information to appear in every locations placemark, I want to be able to have a hyperlink in the locations placemark, and when clicked, that link display the Help document. I thought there was a way to read to another layer contained within the KMZ but I am not sure how to do it.

    thanks

Sounds like what you want to do is open one balloon from a link in another balloon. I don't think that's possible.

You could just link to Help file in HTML from balloon and let it open in browser window.

"Can I have a balloon open when I open a KML file?

At this point, KML does not support the ability to open a balloon when the KML file opens. However, if you use a feature anchor, you can create a link in a balloon that will open a second KML file or a different balloon."

    Is this what you mean?
I have an existential map; it has 'you are here' written all over it.
