Default FTP link fails in google earth browser

I have a KML point layer with pop-up balloons when the points are clicked. There's a link in the balloon that fetches a simple .html file from an FTP server. When I test the link in IE and FF it opens perfectly. When I click the link in Google Earth the browser window slides over and then it freezes. Google Earth never finishes loading the page. I have tested the FTP link various ways and it's good to go. Google Earth is the only scenario in which the link fails.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any known work-arounds?

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that FTP links are not allowed. You might try asking here http://groups.google.com/group/kml-s...dvanced/topics
