why was this erased?
so i was looking around at japan on before and after images of the tsunami when i ended up on this black erased area...
whats is that all about?
super secret japanese alien submarine that got washed up?
probably not.. but still, lol
dont know how to add the download linky to the position so here is the coordinates.
There is no erased area, just a new square of hi-def added.
are you looking at the picture with the newest date?
its clearly a big black area that looks like if a 4 year old have been painting on the map.
There is nothing wrong there. Only a newer map in a greener colour.
It soiunds like you need to clear your cache in GE. Black boxes or wrong maps appears when you don't do that regularily.
If you upload a screen shot too we can see what you mean.
this is what it looks like before you click anything
if you hit the clock icon then you will get a newer date on the area
and you can notice outside the black area that the "updated" greener area is being updated also to "spring/winter" time like the larger genearal area.
It's a hole in the 2011 imagery. There's nothing censored. Missing data, glitches, and errors happen all over and take a variety of forms.
In this case, the error shows up only with the historical feature turned on because the missing data is just a black block. When you look at the default view, GE lets the older picture show through the bad spot in the image.
Simply put, the default image is carefully designed so that glitches are hidden and the image looks as clean as possible for people making movies or using images in newscasts. (or similar products) The history timeslider feature acts differently because the purpose is to try and show the original image without trimming edges or mistakes in the middle.
It would be awesome if we could fly through areas like that into the earth in the flight simulator.
I wonder if there's a way to disable the crashing range in the config.
Your comment is very good
