    These two testing ranges are almost identical in appearance.

    They are indeed identical. They are replicas of the Soviet Air Force Base JŘterbog / Altes Lager in the former GDR.

    From 1916 to 1945 ot was used by the German Luftwaffe. From 1945 to 1994 used by the Soviets using MIG 21 and 23, after 1994 it closed down as military aiport and today used as glider field.

    The US Air Force made another replica of a WAPA (Warsaw Pact) airfield in the Nevada Test Range:
