Airplane Flying Mexico City discussion
This is a discussion thread for the following file:
Airplane Flying Mexico City
at the north of Mexico City, an airplane caught in flight
I think this is faked. What is the bluish shadow under the plane, the object sticking out from the left front of the plane, and the shadowing is not consistent with the angle of the sun.
That's the double exposure from IKONOS.
IKONOS takes 2 exposures, one at 0.3 or 0.7 m/pixel, and a 3.2m/pixel close together and since it takes time to make those double exposures, the 3.2m/pixel exposure is low res (Therefore the blue) and makes a faint shadowy effect ahead of moving objects. You can actually deduce the speed of the plane by the distance of the 2 shadows!
Look around in the planes in air section, and you'll see the exact same effect with most of the planes.
