    i agree they usually have at least a 15 second delay between takeoff/ landing and at 100 mph the gap should be about a 1/2mile, but i might be wrong

    Minimum take off separation in the US is 6,000 feet for large aircraft. Typical take-off speed is 160 mph - so 30 secs would be normal - but I don't see that often - 45-60 secs would be much more usual to avoid wake turbulence.
