Default Info on kmz and kml files

I am teaching students to use GE. I want to know how the kml and kmz files differ.

kmz is a compressed (zipped) file of a kml. kmz also includes e.g. pictures of overlays, in a kml it is only referred to the picture.
You can open a kmz with winzip, then you can see a kml-file and a picture.

kml is the keyhole-derivate of an xml-file.

The simplest explanation - A kmz file is a zipped version of a kml file. kml files can only have a single placemark. A kmz file can have multiple placemarks or overlays.

"You do well in school?"---"Yeah"---"Good, so did I, that's what they call a paradox"

"How's your mother?"---"Oh... I'm afraid she's on her way out."---"We all are. Act accordingly."
