Default iPhone, anyone?

Who here is getting an iPhone this week?

I'd love to, but I'm pretty much stuck with Verizon for another year or so. I'm not a big Cingular fan (I mean "the new-new-new AT&T") either. Still, I'm tempted to switch just for the iPhone.

I'll have to pass on a $500 phone and stick with my $0.00 Razr that had a $125 rebate.

I must be in the minority, I use my cell phone for phone calls. No IM, no texting, no web browsing, rarely use the camera, all callers have the same ringtone, and I do NOT have one of those silly looking things attached to my ear.

That is a good reason to pass.

No IM -- same
no texting -- I love to text. It's very convenient for me and my wife, especially when she's got a sleeping baby on her. We both have LG enV phones (with the little fold out keyboard), so it's a bit easier than a normal phone
no web browsing -- the browser on our phones is awful, but that's a big reason I'd want an iPhone.
rarely use the camera -- again, since Kelly and I have matching phones, it's easy to toss pictures back and forth. Other than her, I use it maybe once a month.
all callers have the same ringtone -- fancy ringtones drive me nuts. Mine will beep quietly once and then vibrate. That's it.
and I do NOT have one of those silly looking things attached to my ear -- If I had a longer commute I might consider one, but for now I don't...

I don't see the need in buying a 500 dollar or possibly more plus the service plan. Other than it just want work where I live. It will only have service in certain cities to start off with and who knows when it will be come available to the rest of us. Sweet looking for none the less.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Do you have a source you can link us to?

I really wouldn't need one, anyway, I don't even know if they are selling them on this side of the pond(I'm in England for now). But my little Nokia is doing just fine(it's even got a camera!).

Let's be clear - no one needs one. A lot of people just want one.

I'm satisfied with my Sony Ericsson K750i. Wit that I can surf the Internet and checking up GEH at work, check my E-mail, camera and so on. Even use it as GPS travel pilot.

I'm amazed they didn't include GPS in the iPhone. Quite a shame.

Really I'm just wanting a phone with a real web browser in it. The one in this LG phone is weak. The way they implemented Safari on the iPhone seems really good, though I obviously haven't seen it first-hand yet.

I couldn't find anything off hand but remember watching it on cnn's website. It's archived now and is in the cnn pipeline archive. If you search cnn's video you'll find it. It's titled Iphones pro's and con's. Will keeping looking. I do remember them saying will have full functionality in cities like LA, Chicago, NY, etc..

P.S. to cancel the service will cost $175

was able to find this info.

I have Mac products already. I feel more brand loyalty to them than I do to Verizon. They're doing the things with the iPhone that are more innovative and will change the way people use phones, and I'd like to be a part of that

That's hilarious. Some of the other videos are outrageous too.
