Concentration camp Hessental (Overlay)

The camp Hessental (the triangle pointing to the north) was set up in summer 1944 in the formaer barracks of the Reichsarbeitsdienst near the train station Hessental. The first occupancy with 600 inmates was on October 14th 1944, until December it were 800 inmates, mostly Polish jews from the area Radom.



Systematical undernourishment and the hygienic deficency caused serious deseases and epidemics. In February 1945 a typhus epidemic caused 100 deads. Over all 182 inmates died due to deseases, hunger and murder.



Facing the approaching US Army the SS removed the inmates in a march of death to the camp Allach (extension of CC Dachau). Another 150 to 200 people died.
