First, watch these Boeing Crosswind Landing certification tests for the 777 and 747 - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/39256/crosswinds/

Those certification tests were done in 50 knot crosswinds. FAA regulations limit crosswind landings to (I think) 40 knots for Boeing aircraft, and 35 knots for Airbus aircraft. (Boeing planes have main landing assemblies that rotate a tad if needed, Airbus doesn't.)

On March 1, 2008, a Lufthansa Airbus A320 was landing in Hamburg, Germany. About 20 feet above the ground, a gust took the crosswind speed to an estimated SEVENTY knots.

A plane can't land in 70 knot crosswinds. But a plane on final just a few feet above the runway can't really not land either.

Watch the video - amazing pilot skills. (As one pundit wrote - "Nothing really wrong with the landing ... they used every inch of the runway; plus a bit of meadow, fence, road, and beach.").

Here's the A320's landing -

It has something to do with a woman, a car and a parking lot

Basically the same problem, but another car and another woman:

this is really excellent: Steam Trek
Star Trek done up as a silent black and white film similar to "The Voyage to the Moon"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y39g...eature=related

Relatedly, slightly, is this "Stark Trek Cribs" parody for G4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBXal1GAA4A

Tom Wilson's "Question Song" (AKA The Biff Song to some)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwY5o2fsG7Y

Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" for "American Chopper"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZHAep7lFJU

Black 20 did a "PG" version of the trailer for the movie "300". For those not familiar with the rating system in the USA, PG is second only to "G" for being child-friendly.

Of course, I love Weird Al's "White and Nerdy" video

Part 1 of a series of videos by a 94 year old WWII veteran
