This is an Oil Well on fire in Algeria. Quite visible fire ball and smoke plume trailing off to the west.

I did some searches, and this fire/smoke location has been around for a long while. It was also visible before the area went to high resolution imagery. The 'fire' is part of whatever processing is being done at the plant.

My guess is something like this:

I guess it's gas they are burning durink the oil production.

Right, something like that only much dirtier than the ones generally found in pictures like that.
