Unfortunately it was all fiction / sci-fi, and it was all filmed in-studio & with special effects, so unfortunately there will be nothing special to see on the island once you get there.. but I'll try my luck at finding it for you, anyway

The location for the japanese part of the film is in the Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland.

Default What i'd really like to find from Contact

Is a high-res image of the radio dish at Arecibo, or the VLA in New Mexico. I looked where I thought they were supposed to be bu those are low-res location.

Lee; did you try searching our file archive

If you had, you would have found;

Arecibo Observatory, Puerto Rico (Overlay) and VLA - Very Large Array (Overlay) and lots of other cool things..

Nope, I'm still finding my way around here. Thanks.

I did find Arecibo and the VLA on my own, but without overlays there's not a lot of detail directly available from GE.

Good to hear; the two files I linked you to are overlays offering a higher resolution than the standard GE one, so I hope they were helpful

Try viewing it with Terrain turned on then tilt it. Looks like they got the height data wrong, looks more like a dome than a concave dish.
