This is a discussion thread for the following file:
unusual huge blocks under the sea several unusual huge blocks under the sea, each one's dimention is 30x30m. I don't think it's necessary to build such HUGE things under the sea so far. so..... what are these?

congratulations to the person who discovered the place on Google Earth.
It seems to be so impòrtant that Google Earth staff have add the place as important and interesting today. several questions: Can "it" be an oysters farm? there´re so many hearthquakes in Japan every year. any relation? does someone living near the place can post information? Arigato. |

Plus several of the photos on that website look like really bad CGI to me, and not photos at all. Kind of makes me wonder about the entire website.

It's a real place, I watched a thing on discovery channel or history channel a while back on this place, it's under debate if it was created by man or just some kind of natural formation. but, if you want my opinion it doesn't look natural, in the show you can make out what looks like faces carved into the rocks. I don't remember how old they said it may be.

I also read about this in some science magazines. It seems to be real, but the origins are still debatable. Personally, I'd err towards them being man made, as a lot of it's composed of 90 degree angles, and in more than one occasion, there's a geometric shape carved into it.
Very good find!

I guess I should comment and set the record straight. The location of the ruins is nowhere near this placemark. It's off an island on the opposite end of the chain, in the southern parts of the Okinawan islands.
http://www.morien-institute.org/yonaguni.html You'll note that although the webpage mentioned in another post isn't as clear, it does at least say the ruins are in Okinawa. You're back to square one, er no pun intended. In addition to things such as oyster/fish traps, I would also point out that these could very easily be patches of sea floor that have been harvested for seaweed leaving pale squares against the darker unharvested area. There are certainly plenty of seaweed 'farms' around Japan. There are more squares to the south, and some of them are still dark. |

Good point Munden, I suppose I should have actually downloaded the file to see if the location was correct.
