This is a discussion thread for the following file:
Lynyrd Skynyrds plane crash On Thursday, October 20, 1977, just three days after the release of Street Survivors, and five shows into their most successful headlining tour to date, Lynyrd Skynyrd's chartered Convair 240 ran out of fuel near the end of their flight from Greenville, South Carolina, where they had just performed at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, to LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Though the pilots attempted an emergency landing on a small airstrip, the plane crashed in a forest in Gillsburg, Mississippi. Lynyrd Skynyrd disbanded after the tragedy, reuniting just once to perform an instrumental version of "Free Bird" at Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam in January 1979. Collins, Rossington, Powell and Pyle performed the song with Charlie Daniels and members of his band. Leon Wilkeson, who was still undergoing physical therapy for his badly broken left arm, was in attendance, along with Judy Van Zant, Teresa Gaines, JoJo Billingsley and Leslie Hawkins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynyrd_Skynyrd

That's how it goes for oldies bands. I have been to concerts with Smokie, Slade and The Sweet.
This fall Uriah Heep is comming to my town. In all cases only one or two were there also in the 70th. |

Very true, actually they gave a concert in Denmark some years ago, no one mentioned it wasn't the origin. When the people at the concert saw it when the concert began, they were mad and left. They wanted their money back, and they got that.
Many danish cover bands who play songs of origin bands call themselves like this: AC/DC Jam, Led Zeppelin Jam, Metallica Jam, George Michael Jam and Robbie Williams Jam. Then there is no doubt in what to see and hear. |

What usually happens is - one member of the original band leaves to be replaced by a new member - Then another one leaves to be replaced - And another and so on - untill there are no original members left - But they get to keep the name
