It's harder to find than one might think. For starters, it's not visible from space, although many people have heard otherwise. Also, China is pretty low-res for the most part, making it even harder to spot.

Regardless, I'll try to find some good shots in a few minutes and post them.

from http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/radar/sircxsar/gwall.html:
"The left image is centered at 37.7 degrees North latitude and 107.5 degrees East longitude. The right image is centered at 37.5 degrees North latitude and 108.1 degrees East longitude."
try around there?

I think I've sort of found it, but it's tough. Despite it's amazing length, it's really no wider than a normal two-lane road. Given the low resolution in most of China, two-lane roads (and therefore the Great Wall) aren't visible in Google Earth.

Hopefully someone can come up with a good location where it's easy to see - so far, I've not had any luck.

SQ1 - This was actually the first place I ever placemarked in GEarth (way back when - about a week ago )

I adjusted it a bit and posted it in the GEH file library - just click here

Default another shot of the great wall

I was looking around for the Great Wall, and I found this site. Anyone think it is/is not a part of the Wall? (see attached -- this is my first attempt at posting, so I hope I managed to attach the kmz. If not, it's at
40° 40'23.85"N, 116°41'21.51"E)

BTW, I think the Forbidden City is only a few steps from the landing site for "Beijing, China". It's quite beautiful -- and very clear.

Default Great wall???

hypeserver, I think you're right. (Flows into a large reservoir, not a river). In fact, I think it's precisely what the ESA saw last year -- what they thought was the Great Wall, but turned out to be a river: click here for info
