The Battle of Hastings was not fought in Hastings it was fought in Battle.

What dont you get ,
I live here in Hastings and it was not fought here it was fought in battle in a place called battle abbey.

Because I didn't know that there is a town in Sussex called Battle (it's even not in the German wikipedia entry of the Battle of Hastings). Without knowing this, your statement doesn't make sense.

Anyway, the historical name of this battle is Battle of Hastings. The Battle of Waterloo didn't also happen in Waterloo, but it was named so...

Post Battle of Hastings

The picture in the .kmz seems to show the coastline where William the Conqueror landed...I've heard, though, that the rates of erosion in the Devonian chalk cliffs in this region are so significant that the actual point of landing should now be located a bit offshore.

As for the location of the actual fighting, this link might shed some light:
