Default Oil well placement

How far apart do oil wells have to be? I swear I'm not an idiot, but I've been trying for 3 days to find a spot for a well. I thought the minimum distance was 20 miles, but I'm looking at one now where the wells are roughly 50 miles apart and I can't place a new one between them.

It's at 25 57' 20.38" N 42 33' 42.09" E.

Any ideas?

The calculation isn't done in miles, although it probably should be. I use the the famous pythagorean theorem (a^2 + b^2 = c^2) to find the distance between your area and the nearest mine. "a" is the latitude difference between your mine and the next, "b" is the longitude between your mine and the next.

I have the minimum distance allowed set at .3 for now. This means if there was a just one mine on the map, at 26 0', 42 0', you could go north to 26 19' (just past .3) and it would let you build one there.

Looking at the spot you mentioned, it just doesn't seem to be open enough.

Lightbulb Placement

Hi

Newbie question:
Do I need to position the place where I want to place the oil well / cotton / diamonds to be in the middle of the screen?

Yep. The very center of your screen is where the well/mine/etc will be placed.

The denials are already beginning. The people have a right to know. Where's the press when their inquisitive powers are most needed? ;-)

Well, I had three diamond mines die on me in twelve hours. So, no more whining about not enough room.

Now with GAMES, so even if you can't be the best at GEWar, maybe you can set some highscores.
