Default Global cloud map discussion

This is a discussion thread for the following file:

Global cloud map

Global cloud map.

editors note - I think this is in real close to real time. This one is well worth downloading and keeping, good job Stadsman!

editors note 2 - Stadsman even put the default view to be the west coast of Africa. Rather timely with the extraordinary amount of hurricane activity so far in 2005. You can see Emily, and two tropical depressions right now (07.14.05) Now for a real treat, change the opacity of the overlay to 100% and look at the really big storm over Africa - that might be next week's hurricane!

Default Update

I attached an updated version blue color, instead of pure black and white, which in my opinion looks much better

This is the first "refreshable" thing I have downloaded and it is pretty cool... Any others you know??

Great "Loading Image" by the way... Takes a long time though...

Edit: Still waiting... I assume, it won't work...

Default Try this

The picture at the default-URL: http://xplanet.dyndns.org/clouds/clouds_2048.jpg

seems to be gone...

But if you replace it in the properities with this one:

http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~jml/clouds_2048.jpg

it should work. It seems to be quite near to real-time. It should be updated every 3 hours, if I understood things right.

Maybe this Link is interesting, too:

http://xplanet.sourceforge.net/clouds.php

Hope, I could help...

I was dissapointed and frustrated when this stopped working. Your 'fix' works a treat!

Thank you
