Default Google Universe

So, anybody want to take bets on how long before Google takes over development of Celestia and combines it with Google Earth to make "Google Universe"? Imagine, zooming to your house, then looking up to see a perfect representation of the sky at that time, or zooming from your house to Olympus Mons on Mars, or tracking satellites and shuttles across the Google Earth screen.

I thought you were kidding at first, then I realized that Celestia is a real program. I can see it happening...

Default How about searching inword

I am sure it is being looked at, but in parallel to cataloging the earth, universe so on and so forth, how about an effort to create a visual catalog for cell, atom, molecule and so on to infinity. Or is that already done.

Default I'm sorry but I don't understand

I registered for this site because Make Magazine recommended it, but I don't really understand what's going on here. A GPS so that you can get location.. I don't have that. Then what? An image from a satellite of the area? How do I see the other pics.. or am I totally not getting what this is.

Audrey,

Our files section is full of places to visit with Google Earth, Google's cool new (free!) software. Once you have installed Google Earth, simply download a file from our site, run it, and your copy of Google Earth will fly over to the location.

For some things, it's just neat sightseeing, as many places in Google Earth are quite impressive to look at. Other things, like the files in our 3D Models section, will add new items to your Google Earth.

Make sense? Please let us know if you have more questions.

Mickey
