Default Google non-Earth

Others may have noticed this, but I just discovered that if you pull way back up into space and look carefully, you'll see that the nice folks at Google Earth have supplied an astronomically real background of stars. Now if we could only zoom into some of those!

I've heard whispers of that, but nothing concrete. I wouldn't doubt it, though.

Try Celestia. It's a free program that maps out the galaxy. All of the planets are in really impressive detail and you can even check out satelites around Earth and Mars, all the moons(though a lot of them have a default image), and zoom around past the speed of light to other stars.

A truly awesome program.

Celestia is a very cool program, I've had it for a while and its amazing the stuff you can find on it.

It's not as in-depth or as cool-looking or as smooth as Google Earth, but it is pretty sweet software for the astronomical mind. ^_^
