Default Odd Aircraft in Flight discussion

This is a discussion thread for the following file:

Odd Aircraft in Flight

I first found the contrails and thought they might be powerlines, but they stopped abruptly, so I zoomed in and found the airliner. By zooming way out, it seems to be enroute from Grand Rapids MI to Detroit Metro Mi. Does anyone know why a/c in flight have these ghost images? Is it because the satellite is moving in a different direction when the photo is take?

I think its because every color of the light has an other speed.
The ghost image is only blue and red, so yellow may be slower than the others and was not fast enough back to the satellite...

Or something else, I can't explain it in english.
Only in german

It's the IKONOS Double-Exposure.

I had the explanation in a similar thread, but I'm too lazy to dig it up. Sorry.

The speed of light is independent of the color. Your theory even doesn't work as just aircrafts have those ghost images.
I don't know why this happens, but I guess it has something to do with the movement of the satellite and the aircrafts, which are much faster than any other object photographed.

That may cause wrong colors, but no ghost images.

I think it's because the sattelite is moving faster than the plane so it creates a double image
