"Now when you fly over the area in parts of Nebraska and Kansas, you may be surprised to see a very large number of green circles on the ground. These circles, most of which are a half-mile in diameter, are irrigated with central pivot sprinkler irrigation systems. You will see many of these circles if you travel on I-70 through eastern Colorado." An aerial photo here. Apparently, they have the same system in South Africa. T. |

There are circular crop fields. The geometry is because the irrigation system (center pivot water jet).
