Default Trainspotting

I did a search for a GE image showing one of the (famous) Shinkansen-Express-Trains travelling around in Japan on their special high-speed tracks. - Thought I'd be able to find those railways, but failed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinkansen

Has anyone seen a Shinkansen or any other high-speed train, or an especially long freight-train or such?

happy ge'ing :-)

Train spotting is a huge cult, and that extremely descriptive title will instantly grab the attention of any train spotters out there. The few I have met are fanatical about their passion.

Nah, we wouldn't dream of closing an interesting thread.

well, I just felt, with all those planes spotted here on site - at airports, on scrapyards and thrice in flight - I'd be good to balance it out with some trains added - Sadly, in my first search-attempt I was not really able to get the exact location of the high-speed tracks around Tokyo, though. Many rails there, and I found no sufficient information about the line's location.

Some steam-engines 'd be great, too - somewhere in the world they're still being used as regular means of transport (India?).

// if I had edit-capabilities I'd try to come up with a more descriptive title, if I'd help

In hope of "getting" a TGV or such soon! France's still on the list

Still, I gotta get back to learning now - ... a student's life cannot be entirely dominated by surfing a virtual satellite-image globe - even if its great fun :>

alas & so long ,)

I never said it was a bad idea it's a great idea. They should make a section in downloads for trains, a section for movie studios, and a section for HEADQUARTERS (I think it would be easier posting headquarter stuff to a headquarters section rather than random cool stuff or fmaous buildings), also tehre should be a section for home towns so people could post stuff they find in their hometowns.

Yea, that's also a type 700 near Nagoya Station- once you know where the tracks are they are quite easy to find.

Found nearly 40 on the track Osaka - Tokyo.

Shinkansen 6 is a Typ 500.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/500_Series_Shinkansen

There should be many of them on their main tracks, when they have only a difference of 6 minutes.
