Newbie has questions

Hi,
I'm writing a magzine article about GE and just found GEH.
I'm just not getting the idea of the "hacks".
Is a hack more than just a pointer to some interesting place?
What happens when I download a hack?
Do I save them in a special folder?
Does GE have to be running when I do that?

Bodeen, Firstly welcome to our site

Google earth "hacks" is just a name for now, we are just hosting places to see, tours, 3D models.. and a very cool risk-like game called GEwar that is played with GE as the board of the game - Run by the site owner Mickey. I suggest you take a look at it! its amazing!

As Google Earth comes progresses, it will eventually come out of beta phase and into evolve into fully developed program, then Google will (hopefully) release an SDK so that we can work on plugins and mods - this is where the hacks will come into play

So far its just a name, but we are one of the best Google Earth Communities about (apart from the official one, of course)

Oh Tara - we are a much better community than the 'official one'

Where do you spend more time? Here - or over there?
