The folder where the cache file is expected to be does not exist or is not accessible. I had the problem when I tried using Google Earth using another account on my pc.

I found a solution to this problem. We had the same issue. Here is what we did to fix it.

moved the Googleearth folder from the account that installed it to the all users folder.
From
C:\Documents and settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Google\
To
C:\Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Google\

Then when into regedit and changed
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google\KeyholeCommonSe ttings and changed the KMLPath key to
C:\Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth

NOTE before editing the registry make a backup incase you have fat fingers and mistype something.

Hope this works as well for you as it has for us.
