Default Some useful tools...

I found these on the bbs.keyhole.com site and figured that they could be useful for the teachers among us:

World Countries as Polygons with among others links to the CIA World Factbook.

US State Capitals The information includes the state's: nickname, capital, largest city, 2000 Census population, and when it entered the Union.

"Capitals" of the World all of the places in the US, and probably worldwide, that have a "claim to fame," such as the "Bratwurst Capital of the World."

African Capitals This file contains the capitals of all African countries.

Examples of classroom use was put together to demonstrate the functunality to teachers.

Columbus first journey an EarthQuest in Dutch language for the primary school.

Good luck,

Stadsman

Default Using Google Earth for Urban Planning

One of the projects at the University of Colorado is using Google Earth for investigating social creativity in collaborative environments.

The tool might also be great for an immersive around the table educational experiences where students get to "sketch" upon the earth and participate in interactive discussions about sociology, etc.

Default Use Google Earth to teach computer skills

Having the students actually learn how to compile information from the real world then translate it into the GE World would be great for getting them used to computers as tools.

For example, have the students identify things in their community and have them put information that is important to them in a .kmz file.

take a look at the Bradley University .kmz file I made for ideas on what can be done. Notice the use of web links at the placemarkers tying the location to useful information.

Also go to the park and do a flyby of the golf course using GE's play button.

I have seen an APP that allows viewing of photos based on where they were taken.

The possibilities are endless ------
