This file is a map that shows the Western World (sometimes referred to as "The West") as described by wikipedia.

I have uploaded at least 5 other files before, similar to this one, and they have been accepted. I always try my best in alligning overlays.

I don't quite understand what you mean by this. Maybe you should see number 1.?

I denied this file,

The reason I gave seemed logical enough,

1.) The overlay image was off by about 200 miles in some places,

2.) It pointed to Europe,USA(Western World)but it also points to Russia,Cyprus,Israel,Australia,New Zealand,South Africa(Not Western World)

3.) It looked like it pointed to random countries(see post 2).

That's why I denied it.

"Its source also lies prominently in the Germanic, Slavic and Celtic popular cultures that took part in the formation of the culture of medieval Europe."

Here you are right! Wikipedia says:
Quote:
The term Western world or "the West" can have multiple meanings depending on its context. Originally defined as Western Europe, most modern uses of the term refer to the societies of Western Europe and their close genealogical, linguistic, and philosophical colonial descendants, typically included are those countries whose dominant culture is derived from European culture.

At the same page:
"To define what is typical of Western society and Western culture, it is necessary to understand its context. At different times and in different contexts, the definition of the West (also called the Occident) varies. It is not always clear which definition is being used."

The cold war has finished... Russia is part of the Western culture - European country, Slavic country, Christianity

"Some ideas that might be considered cornerstones of Western tradition are: Christianity, secularism, rational deductive reasoning, rule of law, esteem for human civilization, the development of science."

"In addition the clearly Greek-influenced form of Christianity, Orthodoxy, is more linked to Eastern than Western Europe."

then the file doesn't get approved,

If the western world is as you define it then the file is approved.

You are more likely to win because most of the users here are from western Europe. I don't care much if my file is denied. As I pointed out, wikipedia says that several definitions are possible, including or excluding Eastern Europe, South America, South Africa etc. I can upload a file that has all variations if you want to.

I simply uploaded the broader definition.

Well,no.

You see I check the files,I saw how you defined the "Western World" and I denied it on the basis of the countrys you put in it. I see the western world as this quote says:
Quote:

Therefore I denied your file.

Also In my opinion, if it was my file, I would accept that other people have different views of the world, and would accept that.

You are right about this. I am going to upload a new file with all variable definitions, because there is no single strict definition.
