Default Whack Circles in Oklahoma

Don't ask why I was looking in Oklahoma (who doesn't get bored at work?). But does anyone live in the "panhandle" of Oklahoma? Could someone explain all of the weird circles that are all over the place? Below should be a link to it.

Default Known as Irrigation Circles.

They irrigate the land with large spray booms that slowly turn around a central point.

Default Oklahoma Circles

I believe they are wheat fields. I live in North Central Oklahoma. They also burn off their fields, so therefore the different colors.

They were testing the effects of nitrogen fertilization on buffalograss.
I'm guessing they have done other experiments in this area because these circles are crazy and go into Colorado, Kansas, Texas.. etc.

I found this the same way: I asked myself: Do they even use the panhandle of Oklahoma? Apparetly not for anything useful if the circles are only for that reason. *shrug*

Pivot irrigation systems are used all over the US and many other parts of the world. They have nothing to do with the study you referenced. They are used to grow crops in arid regions. Crops which probably end up on your dinner table in one way or another if you live in the US. I think that is very useful.
