Default 3d terrain

How can google make all the mountains 3d?
Are the mountains exactly the same or just a little?
Whn is google going to increase its resoulution for different countries??? :-?

Normally, sattelite images are just flat. So Google calculated 3D-heights into the images which makes the mountains look 3D.

In hi-res areas, the should look as in reality, as far as I can tell.

You have to ask Google on this one, we don't know. But I think they are already working on that.

How did you check the height?
My calculated estimates proved relatively close.

Default 3D data

Hi
3D data is public for more than 1 year from NASA.
I believe US is 30x30m precision, rest of the world is 90x90 and 900x900 meters.
Search for SRTM keyword.
