Hype; What was the point of YOUR post? to make the poor guy feel lousy about being really excited about GE? quit being such a black cloud

Swiss; Glad you are enjoying GE, I'm equally addicted as you.. and even on my huge screen the "My Places" list isnt long enough to show everything Have fun, and welcome to the forums!

hype; I was mucking around didn't you notice the ""

My laptop res is 1280x800, I have a 20" screen at home on the desk that I plug the laptop into when I'm in my room, I cant think of it's res right now (I'm at work)... regardless, my 1000+ placemarks are well hidden in logical hierarchies of folders ..because sydney has no streets (according to GE), or ability to search by address, I've been having fun manually locating all my friends.. and favorite restaurants.. and train stations.. and ferry wharfs.. and parks.. and the list goes on.. heheh..

Hello Swiss,

most users can understand your enthusiasm. I described it that way to my friends:

"The first virus that infects the user not the system!"

Default logical hierarchies of folders

araT mentioned that he had created the abovementioned hierarchy in his "my places". Couldnīt there be a small program to import for this purpose for newbies like me?

Sincerely

RKR; firstly, I'm female

secondly.. making a heirachy of folders is not hard..

Right-click your My Places section, go to "New.." submenu and select "New Folder" Name it appropriately, fot the example we'll call it "Folder A", do that as many times as you need..(Folder B, C, D so on) Then, to make folders inside those folders, right-click the folder you want to put your new folder in, select the "new" submenu, and select "new folder" and so on and so on.. (For the example Sub A-1, Sub A-2 etc.) in the end it will look like;

Code:
- Folder A
    - Sub A-1
    - Sub A 2

+ Folder B

- Folder C
    - Sub C-1
    - Sub C 2
    - Sub C-3
and so on...

I'll attach a pic of mine so you can see what i mean;

I forgot to mention that (of course) the appropriate placemarks then go within their folders.. here is just one folder for example;
Code:
 - Sightseeing (FOLDER)
    - Conspiracies (FOLDER)
       - Area 51.kml
       - Nazca Lines.kml
       - UFO.kml
    - Natural Wonders (FOLDER)
       - Babylon.kml
       - Pyramids.kml
       - Sphinx.kml
       - Sun & Moon Pyramids.kml
    - Technology (FOLDER)
       - Apple HQ.kml
       - Microsoft HQ.kml
       - CERN.kml
    - Vehicles  (FOLDER)
       - Planes & Helicopters (FOLDER)
          - Plane 1.kml
          - Plane 2.kml
          - Plane 3.kml
          - Helicopter 1.kml
       - Ships (FOLDER)
          - Boat 1.kml
          - Burning Boat.kml
Excuse the lousy description & examples, its 2am here Hope I have explained myself well enough
