German War Cemetery Fricourt

17,027 German soldiers are buried here. Among them was also Manfred von Richthofen (The Red Baron). He was exhumed from the cemetery in Bertanges and reburied here at the German Military Cemetery in Fricourt (Somme) by french cemetery authorities but already on November 20th. 1925 he was exhumed again he was exhumed again transported from France after a state in the presence of thousands of Berliners, hundreds of soldiers and officers as well as Reich President Paul von Hindenburg and numerous members of the government and reburied again at the Berlin cemetery Invalidenstraße. In 1975, he again was reburied and now rests beside his brother and his sister Bolko Elisabeth in the family grave at the Südfriedhof in Wiesbaden. At the gate is a memorial to The Red Baron.
