|Absalon (c. 1128 – 21 March 1201) was a Danish archbishop and statesman. He was the son of Asser Rig of Fjenneslev (Zealand), at whose castle he and his brother Esbjørn (Esbern) were brought up along with the young prince Valdemar, afterwards King Valdemar I. Around 1160 he recieved the city Havn (Harbor)with the surrounding villages and 1167 he buildt afort to protect the city Havn. The remains of the fort can be seen in the basements of Christiansborg Castle.
As mentioned Havn was the first name of Copenhagen, later followed Kjøbmanne Havn (Harbor of the tradesmen) and today København.
